Culturally-Informed Therapy for BIPOC Professionals in Dallas, Texas & PSYPACT States

Therapy that centers the full complexity of who you are, because every part of your identity belongs in the work.

You’re capable. Composed. Relied upon. You’ve learned to manage pressure (and to carry more than most). But self-containment has become a way of life.

And you’re tired.

Not because you lack insight. But because insight alone doesn’t undo what had to be endured. This work is not about breaking down your strength. It’s about creating room within that strength.

You’re Carrying More Than Most People Can See

By the time many BIPOC professionals arrive here, they already know how to function at a high level.

You may be the first in your family to move through certain spaces, the one others rely on, the steady presence in high-pressure environments. You calculate before speaking. You anticipate reactions. You stay composed when others don’t. You’ve become the capable one.

These patterns didn’t develop randomly. They developed in context, in cultures that value responsibility, in systems that required vigilance, in environments where being “too much” or needing too much didn’t feel safe.

The problem isn’t that you learned to carry it all. It’s that you rarely get to set anything down. Therapy offers a different pace.

Therapy That Takes Your Context Seriously

Your coping makes sense.

As a Dallas-based psychologist working with BIPOC professionals across Texas and PSYPACT states, I understand how environment and visibility shape internal pressure. We don’t pathologize your competence. We look at what your patterns protected… and what they now cost.

This is relational, psychodynamic therapy rooted in context. We move at a pace that allows insight to truly integrate into your reality.

Support for Your Journey

My practice centers BIPOC professionals navigating the internal costs of responsibility, visibility, and sustained high performance.

I also offer the following services:

  • Forensic Evaluations

As a former Forensic Psychologist with the U.S. Department of Justice, I provide forensic psychological evaluations and expert testimony in federal and Texas state matters. Areas of practice include immigration, competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, criminal mitigation, dangerousness/ risk-related evaluations, and fitness-for-duty assessments for public safety professionals. My evaluations are grounded in comprehensive assessment, objective analysis, and clear, defensible reporting designed to assist courts, attorneys, and agencies in informed decision-making.

  • Individual Therapy (Familial Stress, Boundaries, Racial Trauma)

Even when you appear calm, your mind rarely rests. You anticipate, analyze, and prepare for what could go wrong. Your outward composure is masking chronic vigilance.

Family relationships leave you feeling unseen or trapped in old roles. "Setting boundaries" isn't as easy as others make it seem. The pressure to perform in both your personal and professional worlds never really turns off, and even your “rest” feels consumed by responsibility and overthinking. If you’re quietly carrying it all, therapy can be a place to reset.

Individual therapy focuses on understanding the roots of vigilance and softening the unhelpful responses that have become second nature.

  • Couples Therapy

You are skilled at holding yourself together. Needing less. Asking less. You know it well: strength that protects but can limit intimacy.

Over time, holding it all together can shape how you relate, making it difficult to feel fully seen or supported. This may impact the dynamics of your intimate relationship. Couples therapy offers a space to slow down, understand recurring patterns, and reconnect with greater intention. I work collaboratively with couples to strengthen communication, deepen emotional safety, and support meaningful change within the context of your relationship and lived experiences.

  • Diagnostic Assessment

I offer diagnostic assessments for individuals seeking clarity about their mental health concerns (ADHD, trauma, mood issues, personality disorders, etc.). The evaluation includes a clinical interview, standardized measures, and a review of relevant history to better understand your symptoms and functioning. A letter or a formal report will be provided which summarizes findings, diagnostic impressions, and recommendations for next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions About Working With Dr. Wilson

  • Culturally-informed therapy is a clinical approach that treats your cultural background, racial identity, family expectations, and systemic experiences as central to understanding your mental health, not peripheral to it.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all framework, this work acknowledges that who you are, where you come from, and what you've had to navigate shapes how you think, cope, and relate. For BIPOC professionals especially, that context is rarely incidental. It's often the whole story.

  • My practice centers BIPOC professionals and couples because that's where my clinical training, lived understanding, and deepest expertise intersect. If you're wondering whether you're the right fit, the best next step is a consultation. We can determine together whether this feels aligned.

  • I am based in Dallas, Texas, and provide online therapy for adults residing in Texas and any PSYPACT-participating state.
